'The Godmother of Motocross'
Debbie set the record for the longest consecutive pro and amateur career in Women's Motocross, where she raced for 27 years.
She set an additional record for placing in the top 15 national rankings for women's professional motocross every year from 1977-1997.
In 1996, she founded the Women's Motocross League and worked on behalf of women's motocross overall, where she met congress and drove the change for female riders to attain professional classifications for the first time in history.
WHAT AMA LEADERS SAY
"I have had the privilege of knowing Debbie and her family for nearly 30 years, and over that time, our bond has grown far beyond friendship—she is truly like a sister to me. From the very beginning, I was struck by her unwavering determination and resilience, qualities that shine brightly in every aspect of her life. Debbie’s passion for motorcycles isn’t just a hobby; it’s a driving force that has shaped her journey and allowed her to inspire others.
Through her career in the motorcycle industry as an instructor, advocate, Promoter, Innovator and Professional Athlete, Debbie has not only shared her expertise but also her heart. She’s skillfully balanced the demands of raising a family while carving out a meaningful path in a field she deeply loves. Her knowledge and experience extend far beyond technical skills; she embodies life lessons that resonate with everyone she encounters.
Debbie’s influence isn’t confined to her immediate circle—it ripples outward. Her genuine encouragement and the principles she lives by have uplifted and motivated countless people, instilling in them a sense of possibility and strength. On a personal level, her impact on my life has been profound. She has helped me see challenges not as roadblocks but as opportunities to grow and persevere.
Debbie’s story is a testament to the power of passion, resilience, and the ability to touch lives in meaningful ways. She is an exceptional person who continues to elevate those around her simply by being herself." - Lillian Chesley
WHAT AMA LEADERS SAY
"I have known Debbie pretty much for the entirety of both of our professional racing careers. Debbie is honest, and hardworking, she always puts everything about who she is into every endeavor. Her motto describes her perfectly: Tenacity, Courage, Grit. If you are looking for a great role model, coach, mentor, motivator, speaker or advocate, you found her!"

WHAT AMA LEADERS SAY
"As a retired Factory Team Yamaha Professional Motocross Athlete and Commentator for Supercross and Motocross, I have always been impressed with the way Debbie carries herself. She is polite, professional, and articulate. Over the years we have worked together to elevate and grow the sport.
Her primary focus outside of her successful Professional Motocross Racing career has always been one of innovation. I witnessed her create a professional AMA Women’s Supercross Series with Danny Thompson in 1995, and in 1996 the first Women’s AMA Professional Motocross Series Championship, run in conjunction with the Men’s Professional Outdoor National Championship Series, as well as in 1999 founding her successful Motocross Schools. She is articulate and engaging with a keen eye for the details, so necessary for success and I am happy to recommend her."
